Why turn screenshots into a PDF
Screenshots are the quickest way to capture a confirmation page, a chat, an error message, an online receipt or a set of slides. When you need to send or file them, one PDF is tidier than a dozen image files: the order is fixed, it prints in one go, and it is accepted by forms and offices that don’t take images.
Typical uses:
- proof of payment or booking confirmations
- bug reports and step-by-step instructions
- saving a long article or chat as a single document
- diagrams, charts and slides exported as PNG
How to use it
- Choose your PNG files or drop them on the box above.
- Use the arrows to put them in order. The list order becomes the page order.
- Choose a page size and, if you like, a white margin.
- Select Create PDF, then Download.
Lossless pages
PNG is a lossless format, and this converter keeps it that way: each image goes into the PDF without being re-compressed, so text stays crisp at any zoom level, as long as the screenshot itself was sharp. That’s the main reason to use PNG rather than JPG for screenshots and graphics.
Page size options
- Same as each image fits each page to its screenshot, which is ideal for reading on screen and for tall phone screenshots that would look tiny on a printed page.
- A4 or US Letter fits each image onto a standard sheet, centred, with landscape images on landscape pages. Choose these when the PDF will be printed.
Images are shrunk to fit a page but never enlarged.
Long screenshots and phone captures
Phone screenshots are tall and narrow. With A4 or Letter pages they are scaled down to fit the page height, which can make text small. For reading on screen, Same as each image keeps them full size. For printing, consider cropping long captures into several shorter screenshots first.
Keeping the PDF a reasonable size
Screenshots of text and interfaces are usually small as PNG. Photos saved as PNG are not: they can be several megabytes each. If the PDF is too large, run the images through the PNG compressor first, which typically shrinks screenshots by 60–80% without visible change, or convert photo-like images to JPG.
Questions
Will text in my screenshots stay sharp?
Yes. PNG images are stored losslessly in the PDF, so every pixel, including small text and thin lines, looks exactly as it did in the screenshot.
What happens to transparent areas?
Transparency is kept inside the PDF. Most PDF viewers and printers show transparent areas as white, the colour of the page.
Why is the PDF larger than I expected?
Lossless images take more space than photos saved as JPG. If your PNGs are actually photos, convert them to JPG first and use the JPG to PDF converter for a much smaller file.
Can I mix PNG and JPG files?
This page takes PNG files, and the JPG to PDF converter takes JPGs. To put both in one PDF, make two PDFs and join them with the PDF merger.
